Jacob Weverka

I am broadly interested in understanding the factors that control the accumulation and loss of organic carbon in soils. My dissertation research ranges from a theoretical model describing how the 'chemodiversity' of soil organic carbon regulates decomposition, to field and greenhouse studies aimed at understanding how grazing management and organic amendments affect soil organic carbon storage. I grew up in Oakland, CA and earned a B.S. in Ecology and Evolution from UCSB in 2015. Before starting graduate school, I spent several years working seasonal land management jobs for the National Park Service, the Audubon Society, and Point Blue Conservation Science. When I'm not geeking out about soil, I like to spend my time surfing and baking sourdough bread.
